Meet the Team

Jeff Townsend joined Rock Energy Systems (RES) as President in February 2015 and transitioned into the role of Chief Executive Officer in 2021. He brings extensive leadership experience in manufacturing, service, and distribution disciplines, with a proven track record of growing and developing organizations through organic growth, new product development, and strategic acquisitions.

Before joining RES, Jeff served in senior leadership roles at Eclipse Inc. in Rockford, Illinois, a global manufacturer of industrial heat processing equipment. During his tenure, he partnered closely with international teams, supporting manufacturing, sales, and service operations worldwide and strengthening global collaboration across regions.

Jeff and his wife, Sue, live in Davis, Illinois, where they raised two boys (Caleb and Tyler), and he has a short commute to the RES home base in Janesville, Wisconsin. They have a second home in the Indianapolis, Indiana, area, where they enjoy time with their youngest son, Tyler, his wife, Arianna, and grandson, Wells. Jeff and Sue also regularly travel to visit Caleb and his wife, Katie, near Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Jeff and Sue both grew up in Stockton, Illinois. Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, and his MBA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, serving in their local church, and following the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, and Wisconsin Badgers.

Domenic Grisanzio started as the Chief Financial Officer of Rock Energy Systems in April of 2022. His responsibilities include managing all the company’s financial aspects along with managing Human Resources / Legal compliance and Information Technology. In his role, he leads and provides strategic direction to an experienced finance team covering accounting, financial planning and reporting, banking and compliance while partnering with the senior executive team to execute on the company’s growth strategy.

Prior to joining Rock Energy Systems, Domenic served as the Chief Financial Officer in several private equity backed businesses, as well as holding senior financial and operating roles in both public and privately held businesses over the last twenty years.

Domenic currently lives in Rockford, IL. He received his bachelor’s degree from Rockford College. He is currently married to his wife Tracy, they have two daughters and a son, Madeleine, Isabelle, and Sam. He enjoys boating, skiing, and physical fitness during his time away from the office.

Tim Burgin joined Rock Energy Systems in September 2019 as part of the company’s acquisition of EnergyLogic. Soon after, he was appointed Vice President of Sales and Marketing. With more than 20 years of leadership experience in sales, operations, and business development, Tim has a proven track record in driving growth through multi-channel strategy and brand development.

Before joining Rock Energy Systems, Tim served as Vice President at EnergyLogic, where he played a critical role in shaping the company’s sales and operations strategies. His earlier career includes business development and customer operations positions in the contract manufacturing industry with TS3 (electronics) and Kimball International (furniture), as well as over a decade as General Manager at Telco Inc.

Tim holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee. He works primarily at the company’s headquarters in Janesville, Wisconsin, and supports operations from a satellite office in Franklin, Tennessee.

Based in Brentwood, TN, Tim enjoys weekends in his outdoor kitchen and spending time with his wife, Karen, their blended family of five children, three children-in-law, and three grandchildren.

Andy Kuhl joined Rock Energy Systems as the Operations Manager in October 2021. He has years of experience in manufacturing operations management, including roles in material management and international procurement. Prior to joining Rock Energy Systems, he held plant manager and leadership roles at Acme Industrial Products, an aerospace fastener manufacturer, site leader role with Honeywell Thermal Solutions, an engineering thermal solutions provider for the metals heat treating industry, and Eclipse Inc, as a production manager and materials manager in the metals heat treating industry.

Andy currently lives in Machesney Park IL with his wife Nancy. He received his bachelor’s degree in industrial technology management from the University of Wisconsin Platteville. Andy enjoys working on home improvement projects and spending time with family.

John McCown has been the Engineering Manager at Rock Energy Systems since March of 2018. He has over 25 years of engineering experience with a heavy focus on New Product Development in the combustion industry. Prior to joining Rock Energy Systems, he was at Eclipse Combustion for over 15 years where he held various roles supporting the development and application of burner and control technologies. After graduating with his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University, he started his career at Harper Wyman which was a supplier for burners and controls for gas cooking appliances.

John lives in Rockton, IL with his wife and three boys. When not at work, he can often be found at ice rinks around the Midwest, as the McCown family evolved into a “crazy” hockey family when the boys were young and all three were playing. John is currently on the Board of Directors for the Rockford Lightning High School Hockey Program, where his youngest son plays. In the summer months he also enjoys the occasional round of golf or just relaxing by the pool on the weekends.
